Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are titanium posts which are used to replace missing tooth roots. They can be used in a myriad of ways:

  • Single Tooth Replacement of a missing tooth
  • Replacing a section of missing teeth with new permanent teeth
  • Anchoring of a removable prosthesis with “snap” attachments.

An implant generally mirrors the size and shape of a patient’s natural tooth. The implant or artificial root is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia, then allowed to heal and integrate with the bone. In our practice, it is commonly placed with a very precise 3D printed surgical guide which is used to alleviate surgical guess-work. Once the healing process is completed and the jawbone is attached to the implant, the patient returns to the dental office where the implant is fitted with the new tooth. This process generally takes anywhere from three to six months.

Alternatives to dental implants include fixed bridges or removable partial or complete dentures.
